This will be brief because l'm tired and I feel like crap.

As I frequently state, I'm an optimist at heart, but I was hard-pressed to find a single bright spot about last night's football game.

After (sort of) a night's sleep, I found one. Just one, but an important one.

Nobody mailed it in. I saw a patchwork heavy underdog fight and claw for 60+ minutes. I saw a bunch of guys leave the field who looked as pissed off and frustrated as I felt.

They're still in. That matters.

Just one more observation: A very cool moment occurred when a lot of the marching band gathered around the Green House's tent to watch the end of the basketball game.

I still think we'll beat USM. All I know is I'll be there.

That's all I got. For now. I think.

There were several individual bright spots............namely Crumbley ,Rabb and Perry's 2nd half.. I agree, the fight in the team was the best one though. I use to hate the idea, but after last night, that Hoover Met "temporary" option isn't looking as bad as it once did. It would at least create some atmosphere.......those of us that were there last night made a lot of noise for a 90% empty stadium.
I vote no on the Met.

It's further from my house, it's further from campus, it sucks to get to, it's a terrible venue for football, and I just really, really don't want to play there.

The Baron's downtown ball park has been light years better. I never liked going to Hoover either.

+ a million. If they could orient the field to where the majority of the seating didn't suck for football, I would listen, but we couldn't do TV games there.
Heck no the Met, it's a dumb idea.

Can't. Doesn't meet our contractual obligations to CUSA broadcast partners.
Oh the aches & pains of the day after 03-lmfao Normally I have a Sun to recoup before work again but alas...

I was impressed that the team hung in even through the injuries going in as well as those that happened during - I was briefly able to see Hix's on a replay of the game before coming in to work, it looked as bad then as the pic that Attalla showed me. I wouldn't have gone for the tie at the end of regulation, I would've gone for the win for 2 main reasons - the team needed that kind of win emotionally if we had scored a TD & I just didn't think that we could beat Rice in OT as the D was running out of gas so felt that Rice O would be able to score TDs where ours might not (that's what happened). I don't fault him for going for the FG to go into OT as they fought hard to get there.

Have we ever had 2 1000yd rushers in a season? If they do the MTSU gameplan vs USM Howard/Reaves need 140+ each which given USM being in about the same shape as us could be a possibility.

Er, do I have to? Networks agree to broadcast our games and the conference agrees that all venues will have the infrastructure in place that the networks require to produce broadcasts to their standards. It's not hard to figure out what all that entails, but most notably it includes positions for multiple camera angles and the communications infrastructure. Then there is our obligation to provide the necessary technology infrastructure for game officials and minimum requirements for all other potential media outlets/personnel. It's one thing for Fox 6 to broadcast a high school football game from there, completely another for, say, FS1's broadcast last night to have been produced at the Met. It's not worth the investment.

It doesn't matter how many seats they can get set up there if ESPN, FOX, CBS, or whomever is not getting on rented scissor lifts for endzone views.
I'm guessing SEC baseball is not nearly as complicated to put on TV.

In a stadium built for baseball? I'm guessing your guess is correct.
A stadium built for minor league baseball that is never on television.

But still, the camera nests are probably oriented adversely for football just like the seats are. Every angle would be the wrong angle. Official reviews would be hilarious.
Just say NO to crack (or the Met )
Siebert Stadium? Panther Stadium?

Our situation is comically bad.

Minor league baseball is on TV more than you would think, but they also built The Met to host special baseball events like the SEC tourny. Point being there are camera wells and a mount beyond the CF fence. But those are useless for broadcasting football which means we can't just toss up some bleachers, paint lines, and kickoff. Even our non-TV games have to be prepared to be TV games as networks exercise their options during the season. Plus, it's likely that we have to provide locations for teams to set up their own cameras at specific angles for game film.

It could be worse.

you could add some seats to the Birmingham race course. move the track closer to the stands and we have a football stadium with plenty of parking in a non scary part of town for the over the mountain bigots to attend.
I'll bring some 2x4's over the West Campus. Gonna need more Port-O-Pottys though
Nah...our team sh*ts on the field enough, so it should be a problem if we do too.

Of course...Watson's teams pissed all over the field...literally.
