If UAB is able to land Haas? Do anyone know where the class ranks nationally at the moment without Haas?
I saw one where we ranked around #53. Haas signing would not have a big impact on that IMO.

It is about quality of players, not quantity.

It would take getting players ranked ahead of Lee, etc. to move the ranking up.

Still though, without a doubt, a very good class for UAB.
I think that will all depend on which recruiting rankings you take into account.

According to something I read last night, we are just outside the top 50 right now.
Bottom line (at least in the near term) is putting together a roster that will dominate this conference, and make the question of an at-large moot.

Punch your own ticket.
I don't know much about Haas? Is the young man athletic with good foot movement and post moves around the basketball or is he more of a project? Can he be better than Ogg or Kennedy? Not saying those two were UAB best centers of all time but just trying to see where Haas would fit in. I know UAB had better centers in the 80's and Walter Sharpe was a beast when he was awake and actually able to play a few games for UAB.
Haas is better than what Ogg was at the same time.

Ogg had not played basketball as long as Haas.

Haas would not step in and start day one.

He would see a lot of playing time though.

Ogg did not play that much until his junior year in college.
Didn't hoop scoop rank last years class #18? I would think this one higher.

HoopScoop uses number of players signed, as well. So a team with more openings will be ranked ahead of a team that got better players but signed fewer overall.
Yeah I remember it being ranked in part by how many people you sign. So this class definitely has potential to be ranked very highly.
Regardless of what any ranking system says, this will be one of the top classes in the nation. Calhoun and Sullivan are very underrated nationally if you ask me. Cokely I don't know as much about.

they shut down their recruitment early, therefore the bigger offers didn't come in. We all know they rate players based on their offers.

I hear what you are saying, but isn't Haas a four star? I think it would have an impact on the overall ranking.
4 stars averaged with other 4 stars is still 4 stars.

A 5 star averaged in with the others would pull it up.

Not sure exactly what our current average star ranking is.

Lee is 4 & the others may be around a 4 or so.

Yes, but two 4 stars are better than one 4 star.
Yes, it could go up a little, however probably not close to a top 25 class nationally.

Doesn't mean anything though because the end goal is to have a good team & we will have that mixed in with our returning players.
Sure, it's fun to make a big splash in recruiting, but the results on the floor are what matters.

For a reference point, look about 50 miles west.

If that's true, how was our recruiting class last year ranked in the top 25? I'm telling you it's not a simple averaging of the star values. They also factor in the number of players you sign.
Rankings criteria varies by source of the ranking.
