If we only had a big, physical back.
The fullback is an endangered species in today's football habitat. But, still when you have a couple of good "stallions" like Reaves and Howard...Ride'em, dammit!!!
Run the ball!
Maybe coach can install the triple option before the MT game 03-wink
Maybe instead of talking about the power run game we will finally implement it?

Run Forest Run!

If all else fails, we can always pass! LOL 05-stirthepot
We can surprise them by saying we are going to run the ball, then have a dozen passes out to the wideouts.
Or we can surprise them talking about our power run game and how we are going to run the ball and then actually do it.
If they have done their research on us, that would surprise them.
I'm not down on McGee. He has done some good things IMHO. He just needs to remove that lump of coal from his ass and tone down the arrogance. Just my opinion.
+1!
EVERY offensive tactic is most successful when it is unexpected by the defense or they lack the ability to stop anything that is tried. If the opponent puts "8 in the box" and you can still run effectively, then it is what you should do. The general philosophy is to do what the defense "gives you" by its alignment. "Pack the middle", then run or pass wide. If they spread out, pick a weak point and go for it. Neither run nor pass is "always" the best option for every defensive set up.

If a pass play sends 3 or 4 receivers out, it is designed that the QB will throw to the most open receiver most of the time. If the QB disregards all but one receiver and throws to him even if covered by 2 or 3 DBs, then you have a problem scoring while giving the opponent the chance to score on a "pic 6". Going through the "progression" takes time and that depends upon the OL's ability to protect our QB.
I love how Drew is helping us push the fan agenda by emphasizing running the FN ball.
We have a better run game than Rice. They are just willing to run the ball more often and give it a chance. Their opponents defenses aren't any better than anybody we have played as well.

vs UTSA

UAB 34 attempts for 5.6 yards per carry for 189 yards
Rice 41 attempts for 3.8 yards per carry for 157 yards

Coach doesn't think as much of his run game as he says he does.

Drew and I have messaged during a few games. He is as dumbfounded as we are by the play calling at times.

+2, his mouth is writing checks he can't pay for yet but that doesn't make it any easier dealing w/ the after effects of it

Maybe Drew is a poster here. 05-stirthepot
I've never seen a fanbase of a bad football team who wanted their coach to talk about how bad the football team is, rather than trying to be positive and build his team up.

How is McGee being "humble" about the team going to improve the program. I like that he talks about building the program.
He overhypes our team and we get the crap beat out of us. Had he just acknowledge that we suck and say that we need to get better players, maybe we could better players. Instead being fed bullcrap about our potential and being embarrassed to hold an offer from Uab after the performances we have had this season.
