Rod, preseason player of the year. Nice!
6th Place finish? Yikes

I'd be surprised to see Tulsa finish ahead of us, but I would not be surprised at all to see us finish 5th behind USM, UTEP, La Tech, and Charlotte.

Blasphemy
I know these reviewers have tons and tons of teams that they preview, but this guy obviously doesn't know a whole lot about UAB. "UAB will ride Rod Rucker as far as they can." We have A LOT more on this roster than Rod Rucker. We have so much more depth this year than last. The 6th place prediction is also a big underestimation. Frankly, I'd be disappointed with anything less than 3rd. Even third would be a let down in this watered down conference.

Loving the hype for Rucker, though!!

With all of those seniors and the new breed of talent on this roster, and no "Memphis Envy" to contend with, anything less than 2nd in their division will be a profound disappointment to me. Southern Miss will be "their Memphis" this season, everyone else, they should scorch the Earth with.
There are no divisions in basketball.

I don't know where you guys are coming up with such high expectations. "Scorch the earth?"

We have a ton of unproven players. We have seniors that haven't had a winning season in two years. Plus this is not a weakened conference. Sure Memphis is gone, but so are weaklings like SMU and Houston. La Tech, Charlotte and Middle Tennessee are strong replacements. It won't be the cakewalk some of you think.

I don't expect us to finish sixth, but I have no problem with someone picking us sixth.
Agree with everything MB said. There is going to be a glut of teams at the top. I don't expect much separation between the top 6-7 teams. This conference became very competitive after realignment. Every Thursday and Saturday is going to shake up the conference standings. I could easily see us finishing sixth ... and only being two games back of the conference champion.
I'm with MB here. If everything falls into place, we could finish 1st. If everything falls apart, I could see us finishing 8th. Injuries happen, and our depth, while it looks to be good, is unproven. None of us have seen a PG in D-1 action yet either. It's way too early to be making predictions as high as 2 or 3 without being disappointed in the season.

La Tech should be very tough. Southern Miss is obviously going to be an issue. MTSU, Tulsa and Charlotte have potential to be good, but they are a bit unproven as well. Marshall has a lot of talent, can it translate to wins? ECU lost a lot, but they still have some talented guys. UTEP is obviously going to be strong again. I don't know how everything will come together for every team in the conference, but I'm guessing our champ will be 13-3. I'm guessing our floor in conference play is 8-8 and our ceiling around 14-2.

I'm just excited that we have a team with some potential to do good things this year.

SMiss has about 6 new players. Also, with the new rules, I'm not sure how SMiss will fare - at least early in the season.
