FIU is a 17 point dog to USM, a team that has not won in 16 games and has been out scored 142-38.

Who do you go with. And has a team on a 16 game losing streak ever been a 17 point favorite.

Gotta love CUSA.
Take USM. They cover. I think they not only snap the streak they break it in half.
A little research shows this should be a very interesting game. Both teams are young with first year Coaches.
I believe So. Miss wins because of some kids having been there when they were winners.
Ok I know, but thats all I got...So.Miss24. FIU 14

• Saturday’s game at Southern Miss marks a series of “fi rsts” for the FIU
football program.
• Most notably, the Southern Miss game signifi es FIU’s inaugural Conference
USA league meeting. FIU Athletics accepted an all-sports invitation
to join C-USA in May 2012, starting its affi liation this past July.
• The Panthers have yet to face the Golden Eagles on the football fi eld,
as well as the game will mark FIU’s fi rst against a school from the
Magnolia State.
• The Southern Miss game comes after a bye week for the Panthers.
FIU most recently completed the non-conference portion of its 2013
schedule on Sept. 21 at No. 7 Louisville and now plays eight C-USA
league games over the next nine weeks. The program’s second bye
weekend will be on Oct. 21.
• Following Southern Miss will be three straight home games against
UAB (Oct. 12), Louisiana Tech (Oct. 26) and East Carolina (Nov. 2)
before heading back out on the road to former Sun Belt mate Middle
Tennessee (Nov. 9).
• The guiding theme for FIU this season has been its youth movement.
Of the 67 student-athletes that have suited up in 2013, 52 have either
one (23) or zero (29) letters earned. Additionally, in that 67, 27 were
making their FIU collegiate debut and 46 had never started a game.
• Through four games, 22 Panthers have recorded their fi rst career
start. That fi gure ties for the second-most amongst FIU’s nine all-time
FBS seasons.
• With fi elding a seemingly new roster, FIU’s 2013 schedule has been
tough, to say the least. According to Jeff Sagarin, FIU’s non-conference
schedule rates as the No. 9 toughest in the nation. TeamRankings.
com has the FIU schedule at No.

Southern Miss -17 all the way. FIU is a complete embarrassment. This is why you don't hire a guy who has been away from college football for years. FIU has been outscored 187-23.
We had better get our "licks" in now because FIU (like FAU) has big plans for their future and the backing to make them happen. Their goal is to emulate USF and UCF in growth over the next decade and possibly become a respected power by the end of the 2017 season. As one of 2 state schools in the Miami area (and substantially south of I-4), they hope to recruit the south Florida area heavily.
USM will win, but will not cover the points.

They had better stick to emulating UCF because USF sucks.

UCF and USF both excel in GROWTH, both in enrollment and in wealth of sport's programs. With program wealth, a school can afford to replace a mistake at FBHC when it so desires.
USM will lose 3-0. Further, USM will have an ineligible receiver downfield called on their only shot at a touchdown. Demons will be exorcised and their losing streak shall continue. USM will lose every game until the rehire Jeff Bower and pay him whatever he wants to make.

That's what I'm thinking. 17 points is a lot to cover for a team who hasn't scored more than 15 all year.
Friday Tailgate: The most intriguing terrible game ever?

http://www.usatoday.com/story/sports/nca...s/2920097/

"Unfortunately (but understandably) the 4 p.m. ET game isn't available nationally. If you can find a way to watch, we recommend you do so, if not only for the fact it will make you feel better about your own team's shortcomings. Well, unless your team is USF, UConn or Temple."

FIU with the points. Southern Miss fans are worried, but I think they'll squeak it out. Not by 17 though.
