They probably will suck no matter what coach they get. WVU sold their souls for Big 12 money. Should have waited that ACC offer.

I'm not a Holgerson fan, but pump the brakes, it's one game. If they fired him because of one game, they would deserve the purgatory their program would become. WVU will get it figured out.

WVU has been looking kind of bad for more than one game. They were starting to get exposed even when Geno Smith was there last year I believe.

It's not one game...have you not seen what they have done since midway through last year?

One game? The last time they didn't look like garbage was the Orange Bowl two years ago. He could turn it around but so far he isn't getting the job done.

The problem isn't Huckleberry Holgorsen, it's simply the belief that his players aren't getting enough to EAT, because of schools like ECU and Marshall and hence, they do not have enough energy to play effective football. Or it's Geno Smith's fault.........

And this year they struggled at home vs. William and Mary and couldn't do anything offensively vs. Oklahoma (a team they scored 49 against last year)

Right. Since winning the Orange Bowl then starting 2012 at 5-0, they have since gone 4-8.
That sucks, but it's just a single-season stretch. Now if they are 4-8 over the next 12 games, he's gone.

If he was a classy guy then I might agree. However, he's anything but classy, so I hope his coaching career is cut short.

Not a fan of his either. He made lots of enemies in Oklahoma, as OC at OK State. He's a vomit, but I don't see this one particular game being the stimulus for firing him. Like Quo said a little earlier, he had a nice run, and is on a 4-8 skid. If that continues, you would see him running to get out of town ahead of the lynch mob. But not because of today's performance. IMO

Their qb is horrible.

According to their board, Holgerson has an $11 million buyout. I think they're stuck with him for a while.
Awesome

Wasn't totally surprised that they lost. They were having problems last year. I was surprised at the score and that they were shut out. Remember, this was Maryland who had problems of their own last year.

Well at least the easy part of their schedule is behind them.

If UConn is ranked #90, WVU must be ranked #91.

On a serious note, Holgerson isn't a great coach, period.

Note to Holgerson - FIU scored 10 on Maryland. I hope they don't win again with his negative comments.

Last June, Phil Steele blogged about his Combined Experience rankings for 2013.
http://www.philsteele.com/Blogs/2013.../DBJune15.html
WVU ranked 124th out of 126 FBS schools. Of course they're struggling this season; anyone who didn't see this coming was in denial.

They jumped out of the frying pan and into the fire with that B12 move. I looked at their schedule and WVU really doesn't play games in Florida, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Virginia, or New Jersey any more. I'm not sure what their strategy is for attracting recruits without playing in those states. It's going to be the slow death of their football program.
