I'm glad The Baron's pulled it off...........great season! I love their new ball park too.
Remember all those folks that said nobody'd go downtown to watch baseball?

Yeah, me neither.
Great news!
I was hoping they would take it down! Would've sucked to blow a 2-0 lead.
Would've been over long ago if the best players on the team hadn't been moved up.
I enjoyed it tonight crowd really got into it at the end. I was a bit worried when Mobile got up early in the 1st & the pitcher wasn't looking very good but then he got into the flow for several good innings then they took him out for someone whoo kept it going. I like the emcee (Kevin??) as well as the other guy who dances on the dugout a lot late in the gamea. I definitely would take them over the LF DJ anytime!!!
Fantastic news! I hate that their last home stand clashed with an engagement out of state that I had to keep, otherwise I'd have been there to see their crowning moment. What a year for them and the city, that new stadium, just a great first time experience all around. What a difference a new venue makes!!!! Smaug, you got me 03-lmfao again! I can still hear the morons of morning talk radio going on and on in my head about why Birmingham doesn't need a baseball stadium, that the Barons had to resort to gimmicks in order to get the few people they had attending games to come, and most of all, former Hoover Mayor Petelos rants about the Barons move back to the city, & Roderick Royal's anti-baseball stadium gripes of "fiscal irresponsibility"...Take That! 03-nutkick All of ya's!!!!

Congratulations, Birmingham Barons! 2013-14 Southern League Baseball Champions!!!! Damn, that sounds good!!!!

At least Royal did the citizens of Birmingham a favor, and did not run again-lol.

Yep, one player who had 4 multiple hit games in the championship series had only been with the team since the last 5 regular season games.
In fairness, that probably happened to Mobile, too.
Yep. The announcer said that the previous series was against the best hitting team in the league & that this series was against the best pitching team in the league.

Over 400,000 in attendance for Barons games this year. It would be stunned if Huntsville had more than 35,000 actually show up for all their home games this season. I'll wager that more people watched Huntsville play in Birmingham than watched them play at home.

Kind of sorry to hear that about the Stars, I've always thought of them as a very scrappy competitive team, I know they give the Barons fits whenever they play each other. Weren't the Stars looking to relocate at one time or another? #SupportYour(bleeping)Teams!!!
If anyone gets a chance to go or definitly make a chance to go to the new stadium, it's well worth the trip. Very family/fan friendly venue. Not a bad seat in the house & 95% of seats are seats w/ legroom not metal bleachers. While concessions are on par w/ movie theater prices they have good stuff & a lot of selections to choose from. If UAB were to keep playing at this place, I'd not care if we never (double negative there for GN 03-lmfao) built a OCS for baseball caveat being it's upkept not allowed to dilapidate like LF.
I made a trip to Huntsville to watch the Barons play the Stars and there might've been 50 people there on a Saturday night. No the stadium isn't the best in the world but the game kept me more than entertained. I realize it doesn't do much to pull in the casual fans but I enjoyed it.
I went to one game in Hoover last season. I went to 17 games this season. Regions Field is better in every imaginable way in my opinion. I went to the game this past Friday night and it had a great atmosphere for a minor league game. I seen 9-10 or so fans carrying brooms hoping for a series sweep and the chant of "Let's Go Barons!" was heard throughout the night. I hate I had to miss the final game but I was sure to listen to Curt Bloom's radio broadcast.
It's just so great for Birmingham to have something to cheer for & about where sports is concerned,I'll bet the noise in Regions was deafening in the aftermath of victory & a championship.

Now if only UAB's sports teams can muster up the same kind of effort and results, imagine the level of excitement they could generate around here.
Made it out for the first time all season for Friday's game. Enjoyed it so much that I went back Sunday. While I still think the Met is a nice venue, the new ballpark is awesome. If that area can build up with restaurants and entertainment establishments, it will take off.
