Quote:“I quit worrying about Auburn and Alabama. They’re cowards and you can print that,” he said. “Troy people would love to play them, but they’re chicken. I’m not talking about the (Alabama or Auburn) coaches and the players. I’m talking about the ones who wear the panties who make decisions.”

Nice.
Quote:For a move to Conference USA?

Blakeney balks at the teams that left the Sun Belt to go to Conference USA.

“They took a step down,” he said. “I’m not concerned about the teams leaving. I’m proud to be associated with the ones coming in (to the Sun Belt).”
It is the right answer

He's got balls to say that but being at Troy there's not a lot of consequence if he pisses off Jimmy Raines or Finis St. John.

Yeah, McGee wouldn't get away with that, but Blakeney's already been exiled.
Blackened did not apologize for it during Trojan talk last night either.... Said they are cowards and will never play Troy or UAB.

Also said coach Bryant never even wanted UAB to become D1.
Hell, we never would have started the basketball program or had an athletic department if that old drunk had even dreamed that we might have D1 football one day.
Well he might make the good ole boys on the BOT madd enough they might intentionally provide UAB all it needs from a facilities stand point just to make Troy look bad (I mean even worse).
Just a thought....
We actually were in talks with Aubarn in 2001 when we first moved to D1 about a game at Barn. But Barn dragged their feet and Nebraska offered us more money... And ever since then according to Blakeney barn won't even sniff us.

Yet they schedule Jax State.
I will love for UAB to play Auburn, uat, troy and another in state school every year.
The money will stay in this state but IT make to much $en$e

That should tell you all you need to know about the state of Alabama.

Remember, the gumps and API only play each other because the legislature forced them to.

Now, is there the will in Montgomery to force anyone to? Heh, screw the economic potential for the state. It might make some people squirm.
Screw 'em. I would love to support all the instate teams, but when the big boys refuse to play with everyone else then why should I support them. That's why I can some what support AU. They will at least play some instate teams.

It's even worse when the brained washed inbred ghetto fans follow the same mantra of "We (they) have nothing to game." Just going to Walmart and buying a school doesn't make "you" one of "them". smh

I appluad Blakeney for what he said. Unfortunately the only ones to speak out are those later in their career or those to early in the year and too reckless to care. Look for McGee to tow the line.
When the question of Alabama minting auto license tags for out of state school alumni who live in Alabama came up, the reply was that "Yes, they would if there were enough to warrant it." However they said, the money would not be sent to the school but would instead go to the state's General Fund. In Montgomery, they see no sense in sending Alabama dollars to other state's schools.

I wonder if they realize that UA and AU do that EVERY YEAR in football by virtually only playing ("propping up") out of state schools to the tune of millions of Alabama dollars? Kent State received $2.1 million to come to T-town so how many millions have the two BCS programs sent to "prop up" other state's schools in just the last decade?

Completely disagree (not that there's any likelihood of that happening anyway). It's not all about keeping money in the state, nor should it be. There's also the football side of football. Who wants to keep playing/watching the same non-conference opponents year after year after year ... and losing to two of them 99% of the time?
Ok so the story just hit the Montgomery news and the Auburn AD was interviewed... First comment was by him "we are booked through 2015"

And....? We are scheduling opponents through 2018... What about 2016?
You could ask them this question every year & you'd get the same answer every year just the years have changed
