UT's women are the top ranked MAC team in the GLR and trail only a couple Big Ten teams, ND maybe and Butler. Nearest MAC team is Miami at 9. No surprise here and it is disappointing to see them start off with the EMU Triangular meet. Still, they should dominate the conference.

Unfortunately just heard Kaylin Belair has quit the team. She was one of our top runners. The National poll came out today and Toledo didn't make the top 30. From the Great Lakes Region Mich.State was 13,Mich. 17.Notre Dame 18 and Butler was 30th.
AD need to do some damage control? Is it to that point? Really a shame but life happens.
Trying to be open minded here but have to say when you take a top Nationally ranked team and give them a Div. 3 schedule equvilant to a BG there are going to be problems. He was given a gift here and so far, he is way in over his head. He may end up being a transition coach.I hope not....but he has to do something besides punch the clock.
Anyone know about the quality of the incoming freshmen?
I think they were very good. Hadsell recruited them and Ari Fisher convinced them to not back out. Noe from northview is a great talent and one of top recruits in Midwest. The Perrysburg girl was a 2:12 girl in high school. I believe Hadsell also redahirted a few last year as well.

Yes they are very good..with Noe and a top recruit setting records at her high school. Rossetti, a native of Akron, OH, attended St. Vincent-St. Mary High School and runs on the cross country and track teams. She recorded a personal-best 5K time of 18:33 at the 2011 OHSAA State Championship Meet. Rossetti's high school cross country team claimed the state title in 2010 by 71 points, and she has also participated in the Nike Midwest Meet held in Terre Haute, IN.

Wyrick attended nearby Perrysburg High School and earned 2011 all-state honors in track and field. She anchored the 4x800 relay team that placed eighth at the state meet, while setting a new school-record time of 9:18.03. Her 4x800 team also holds the district record of 9:25.42. Wyrick was a state qualifier in the 400-meter dash during 2011 as well, holding a school-record time of 58.70. As a freshman, she was a regional finalist in the 4x800 and 400-meter.

Carmardo is a native of Strongsville, OH and attended Strongsville High School. A distance runner, Carmardo set her 5K personal-record at the 2012 state cross country championship last fall with a time of 18:49.48. She also holds personal-best marks of 5:52.27 and 19:35 in the one mile and three mile, respectively. Carmardo finished eighth overall in the 3,200-meter at last spring's track and field district championships.

However Ari is burdened with fact that she convinced them to come assuring them that the program would not change. She was told it would be the same caliber it had been with Hadsell. Apparently Linh has gone in a different direction. At this time a couple girls have decided to go elsewhere next year and one has quit. Some just go with the flow and some have taken a wait and see attitude.I remain optimistic. Perhaps if Toledo wins the Mac it will not affect recruiting next year. We will just have to wait and see.
The first meet of the season is in the books. The EMU triangular meet was a last place for the Rockets being beaten by BG and EMU. Our top runner Theresa Warsecke ran an 18.40. Rockets next race is Mel Brodt at B.G.

"What a revolting development this turned out to be"

Shouldn't matter. In years past our frosh and soph down-the-line runners have shut out BG's best. I'm stunned to hear this. Have to think this was our second team but still....
Knowing that there was a steeple chase qualifier and that it was really hot, did the coach warn his runners not to go out "hot?" I think that is a question I would ask in response to his statement. Did he warm them and they ignored or did he not think ahead?

The title of the article makes it sound like the teams finished an impressive 3rd in a big meet......07-coffee3

I probably should not comment ,but I can't help myself.....so....if you think I am biased you probably will anyway.......

1. At Toledo there are NO EXCUSES EVER!!!!

2. These times SUCK!!!!

3. We swept the season opener last year with our freshmen and
sophomores.

What do you mean biased? Aren't we all biased in favor of the Rockets? That's why we're on this board! This result is disappointing, but I guess I'll reserve judgment until the first string runs.

Victoria Veronko has been running against us for the last few years, nothing new here or special....and cross country runners are used to any weather issues. Just excuses.

I would guess his new training is the bigger issue...eliminating cross training was major.
