Offer the fastest players possible (outside of QBs... they are looking for pro-style guys) regardless of size.

Hey, it worked for Oregon.
I thought it was offer anyone out of state.
Speed kills. Either you have it or you don't.
When were all of these camps that have been attracting all of our commitments, like Dothan, Florida, etc.?
Various places, including UAB, throughout the Summer.
Mcgee is much better spoken and more respected among the coaching community than previous coaches. He obviously earned some respect from some high school coaches down there .

The buzz about mcgee turning this program around and building something is working.
We are simply signing going after the best player we can get. There is a ton of negative recruiting going on in state. Sign the best player. If he is in state that's even better. We need to win and win now.
You can't force kids to come here. It's one of those things. In this state UAB is looked down on or laughed at. Even Troy and USA are looked at better then UAB. Sorry if it hurts some feelings but let's be honest.
Now, as far as out of state, those kids don't grow up listening to the constant comparison so recruiting gets a little different. Personally, I want kids here who want to be here. I would love to get every 3 or 4 star that AU or uat looks over. But if they don't want to come here and go somewhere else, luck be with you. I love cheering for Roddy White and Darrell Hackney. And the ones who are from B'ham and come to UAB, they represent us well...JOE WEBB!!!

As far as his theme, I hope it's "recruit to win!!!". It reminds me of the Falcons at one point, Recruit Speed!! Speed kills!!

Okay, I'll be honest. North Alabama is more relevant in football than South Alabama. South Alabama has zero reputation, and few people realize they actually have a football team. UTSA has more history and tradition than South Alabama.
Perception is that both and maybe throw in JSU and UNA are all light years ahead of UAB. Perception is reality. We need to change the perception. We can start August 31. Show up at Troy. Show everyone we do have fans and yes we do travel.

Ok North Alabama is more relevant then south Alabama, and both are looked at in a better light then UAB. Trust me Bernreuter, I'm not talking bad about our program, I'm just trying to cut some of the delusions of grandeur when it comes to recruiting.
I think after this year, if it goes well, we'll see some pick up fro mthe instate kids.

I would guess the truth of it is somewhere between poor mouthing and "delusions of grandeur". Good players know they can move to the next level from UAB. In that sense our conference and alumni in the NFL do plenty of talking on the recruiting trail, and our new coach don't hurt either...

Is this the part where I am suppose to roar back with some snappy comment about how I know more then you and then you fire back how you know more then me...blah blah blah..
You know what you're right, please enlighten me on recruiting and football (which I assume you are talking about the sport and not the dance or video game).
Oooh, I'll play!

Quoting wikipedia:

The Lions are distinguished as the only team to win three consecutive football national championships in NCAA Division II. UNA's 27 consecutive weeks at #1 in the Division II polls also comprise the longest stretch of consecutive No. 1 rankings in football in NCAA history on any level. UNA became one of only nine DII schools to beat a Division I-A (FBS) team (since the NCAA's restructuring in 1972) when they beat Southwestern Louisiana (now UL-Lafayette) on October 11, 1997. The Lions won 48-42 after going to 4 OT's.

What, exactly, has South Alabama ever won in football?
USA is really an unknown quantity as we go forward in this century. The school has its own independent medical school, pharmacy school and a supportive rapport with the powerful in Montgomery (which contributed to them getting the second public pharmacy school in this state). With the new industries the state has recruited for their area, the city / county of Mobile may grow to surpass any other metro city area in Alabama in a decade or so (has anyone heard of Mobile talking of ending school bus service because of funding shortages?). Add to that having their own home based BOT, and their advantages going forward are substantial.

While it is true they are still in their football infancy, they have a lot going for them regarding resources (facilities?) that UAB has not been able to match at this time, particularly in football. Which school gets an OCS first? Would "Vegas" have a "line" on that race?
