I'm at the AHSAA North-South All Star Game at the Acadome in Montgomery to watch Parrish's LaBarrius Hill. So far UAB commit Lewis Sullivan and Justin Coleman have been the most impressive. Especially Lewis Sullivan. You guys are going to be good sooner rather than later!
How well did LaBarrius play?

...Hazel Green's @sullivan_lewis has an MVP night to spark a 96-70 win for the North All-Stars. http://highschoolsports.al.com/news/arti...ry-photos/

Had 6 blocks an 7rebounds in the #All-star game

...The Fab Five dream looks possible in the green and gold. Sullivan was the MVP tonight.
...Isaac Haas has a few officials to sort through, but shared UAB was his current leader. 3.9 GPA in AP classes. 25 on ACT.

The former coach of Butler was hired to coach the Boston Celtics...cart before horse etc., but I fully expect Haase and Co. to be hell on hardwood for the foreseeable future. We will again be the team no one wants to host, no one wants to play in a tournament, etc. I think Haase has the potential to go the way of Brad Stevens. After a nice, long, dominant tenure on the Southside, I would love to see him head up I-22 and coach in the 2nd House that Gene built.
LaBarrius had 4 PTs to go along with his previously mentioned rebounds and blocks. He was involved in a car accident in May and is still getting back in shape after having to wear a back brace and be inactive for 9 weeks. He didn't really do anything that would blow you out of the gym or anything to make you not want him. He had several coaches there to watch him including Coach Kane from Murray State (who offered him this week), Coach Peele from Georgia Southern, Coach Gib Arnold from Hawaii and several others. You could definitely tell that Coleman, Sullivan, Haas and Norris were the more household names were more skilled than the others out there.
Riley Norris reminds me a lot of Jordan Swing. Justin Coleman is just an electric ball handler and is able to make things happen for the others. Isaac Haas is HUGE! He had a few blocks and rebounds. If he develops well in college he will become a force. There was a kid there from Athens who's name escapes me at the moment that was impressive as well. Andrew Rogers from St. Jude, Matthew Scelci from Cottage Hill Christian, and a kid from Carver all stood out to me as well.
Coach Burns has told me all week about the kids' high character. They've been there since Monday and he has had nothing but positive things to say about any of the kids. I'd love for you guys to land most of these guys. I saw Coach Haas and Coach Wulburn there looking for future Blazers.
Long time until the early signing period(November 13-20) and the guys are getting new looks/offers almost every day. Haas is back up to 7 top teams with Clemson, Virginia, and Purdue now in the mix(even though UAB still his favorite). Sullivan will undoubtedly be tempted by others who feel they can come in and grab him friom UAB. Haase and company will really have to keep a tight reign on recruiting. Hope every commit stays as more are added. Until then, I kinda guarded...

Thanks for the reports.

Recruiting is a wicked business.
7 foot 2 & 270 lbs = 1 big dude.

I'm 6'5-6'6, my dad is 6'9. But when I stood next to Isaac briefly last night all I could do is look on in amazement. He's probably the biggest human I've ever seen in person. If basketball doesn't work out for him he could probably turn to professional wrestling. Haha
The first time I saw Haas, he was standing next to UAB AD Brian Mackin, who I think goes 6'3"-6'4". I think he came up to Haas' armpit.
A lot of big time players on the court.

Yep. I almost wish guys wouldn't commit to us until November. It's great to have the verbal commits, but they are simply just promises that can be broken at any point.
That's why I don't mind McGee being closemouthed. Verbal commits are like a shopping list for schools higher up the foodchain. They don't respect the commit, and it makes it easy to go looking at potential PF's, PG's, whatever they need.

Especially when they respect the talent judgement of our coaches.

Yeah, this blast from the past is what 6'4" next to 7'2" looks like:

Clearly, "tall" is relative. 04-bow
Is that what 185 lbs at 6'4" compared to 190 lbs at 7'2" looks like as well?

Add to it the fact that Lee (would have been on South team) was out of town at another tournament I believe.

UAB commit Lewis Sullivan scored 22 pts in 16 minutes last night in the AHSAA North-South game, 7-9 FG, 3-3 3pt, 5-8 FT. Pretty sporty.
