I'd forgotten Briana Jones was still with us. In high school, she was every bit the post player Richardson was, with a bit better shot. We might be better in the paint than I'd thought after the graduation losses.

Who all do we have that can give minutes to that center spot?

We have a freshman in 6-3 Sophie Reecher who should challenge for the starting spot. Not sure that Jones has the conditioning to be able to play major minutes.
Not a fan of Jones. I'm sure she's a nice girl, but I still hold a grudge from 2011 NIT game. She single handedly lost us our NIT game two years ago. We should have won by double digits at home, but she had to have missed a dozen or more point blank layups and still can't make an uncontested layup. She takes up room in the paint and does gets the occaisional rebound. If you include her multiple dumb fouls per game she she's not a starter in my opinion. Forget her passing if she gets the ball. If it goes to her in the paint or top of the key she is shooting regardless.
I like Carson and hope she gets some minutes this year. She's not a smooth offensive player, but she's quick, strong, and aggressive. It seems from the interview that Cullop will be comfortable playing one of her many mid-sized wing players at the four spot, so Jones, Carson, and Reecher may be competing for the other 40 minutes of available playing time.

Reed-Lewis was the one player not mentioned in the interview. I wonder if she will see much time.

Quote:Q: Senior Janelle Reed-Lewis showed glimpses of being a viable offensive threat last season but just not on a consistent basis. Do you expect her to take on a more increased role and be a more consistent performer in 2013-14?

A: Janelle has been working hard in the off-season to develop her consistency. When Janelle uses her quickness, she is tough to stop. She has a quick first step and isn’t afraid of contact. She also has the ability to hawk the ball just like Andola. I hope to see Janelle embrace a larger role this season.

Thanks. Missed that somehow.
Carson is long and is a good rebounder so if she can improve her shooting she will get more and more minutes. Crunch is big and has a nice shot but above comments are spot on. Stefanie Recker is the one to watch as she has all the potential but has not blossomed yet. There a couple of new recruits I think will move right in
