while I personally think the entire article is stupid filler. I still think it is coverage of UAB and other CUSA schools from AL.com so worth a post even just mock.

"It has been noted here on occasion that the best course of action in establishing a solid foundation and future security would be for the Sun Belt and C-USA to merge into a mid-major superconference. Consider all the natural rivalries and geographical divisions (three or four) that would come from such a bond. Consider the savings, both for the universities and fans, in travel expenditures."

mostly of my 03-banghead comes from the above paragraph.

yeah, think of the savings of having a conference with UAB, Troy, South, Alabama, and Auburn in the same division.

I would never want UAB linked in the same conference as Troy state.
I sent Mr. Hicks an email to let him know that Memphis is no longer in C-USA. :)
The article is fish wrap.
or fish crap.
Memphis is not in CUSA anymore...
Pretty much all you need to know about the article.

"This game represents an interesting start for the Trojans. The Blazers are an in-state rival and the matchup is part of the Sun Belt vs. Conference USA rivalry, adding intensity to the game"

Still pumping up the ol' C-USA / Sun Belt rivalry intensity boss.
The fact that UAB fans are so up in arms over the articles tends to lend validity to his argument.
Yeah, we're real broken up about it. This thread is 3 days old and up to it's whopping 9th post.
Mole hill meet mountain. Look I added a post.
This is almost as bad as when Peter punched that baby.....
what, no clip? No? ok
HE FORGOT THAT MEMPHIS LEFT!!!!
Anytime UAB plays any team in the same state or region, it has importance to the school's team reputation and its record. Our hopes for an improved UAB football season begins with the first game regardless of opponent. All those other implications are just added factors in what it will possibly mean in the future, particularly in recruiting.
Interesting to point out that last time I checked the articles no Troy or Sun Belt fans had posted comments.

Next time a CUSA team decides to jump ship & join the Sun Belt it will be a first.
I could go for a UAB/GSU game
Get in line. Everyone in the Sun Belt wants to play UAB
One advantage of a GSU game or series is that it would be an easy road trip.

With that said, the game would have to replace the Troy series because I don't see us giving up 2 pay games or 1 gimmee game at home.
