Wonder which of the local stations will be syndicating him?
Even if one does (and I'm sure one will), it won't be the same. Hell, he's a pretty good interviewer when he's not catering to the mouthbreathers, which was down to pretty much never.
This is the best-case scenario for UAB fans by far. Not only will he no longer be hosting a local radio show, but now he won't even be in the state!
97.3 is our ESPN affiliate, so my guess is he will fill the afternoon timeslot again.
At least we won't have to hear him.

Yep. And my guess is the same idiots will still be calling in.

I really wish he would just get away from the idiot callers, and his show might be bearable. He is smart, well-spoken, and knows his ****. Sure, he loves Nick Saban and Bama, but it's hard to find many radio show hosts that don't around here. What he has catered to locally may not work out as well on the national level if his show starts to spread that far.
So, it's true? The "sports pestilence" is going to stink up Charlotte's sports talk airwaves???! On one hand, good riddance & don't come back, but I feel for Charlotte, great city. Doesn't deserve him at all...
Good riddance to him.

YES! YES! YES! YES! YES! ...or smell him....He's a "sports polecat", & Charlotte's airwaves are about to become severely polluted.
FB's wife is my wife's doctor. So, I guess she'll have to find another one...

Now, if only he could take "Jr." & "Fess" with him!!!

You never had to hear him. He will be syndicated back to Birmingham, so nothing will change. Either you listen or you don't.

Staged callers. No one else can ever get through. It is like American Idol, Survivor, or any MTV program. They don't choose normal people to be on the air.

Betty from Wenonah = Betsy from Mars Hill = (Bess from Accounting calling from Studio B)

Steve from Forest Park = Stan from Windsor Park = ( Stewart from the mail room calling from his car)
Quote:Steve from Forest Park

Real person. I went to HS with his little sister. He drove Carlos from Montgomery to UAB at Frenchy speed after the horrific knee/leg disaster.
he is moving to Charlotte because thats where the HQ of ESPN Regional studios are located. Pete Derzis (UAB's 1st SID) is the head honcho there.
Derzis was associate athletic director at UAB and pretty much ran the day to day operations.
Happening at the same time that ESPN is letting people go.
UAB has connections at ESPN? Why are we not milking this for all it's worth??
I think we did.
