2 more wins (or 2 losses by Houston, our opponent next weekend) and we clinch the conference title outright.
Sweet!
Today's game against Marshall was cancelled. UAB is 18-2 and Houston is 16-4 in conference play (Houston is currently beating Memphis 5-3 in the bottom of the 4th). As long as we don't get swept next weekend, we win the conference.
Wish we had some TV games down the stretch.

You would think with the emerging success the program's enjoyed over the last 3 years, that this would have been the case. Just the same, it's invigorating to see them as one of the more competitive teams in the country and enjoying the fruits of their labors...
Softball won both games today. The 2nd one was a forfeit win.

Did they ever say why it was forfeited?
The other team packed their bags & split, I believe.

I guess we won't be playing them again
Did they protest and leave; Get mad and leave; or "No Mas" and leave?
Following the twitter feed it seemed like a NO MAS situation, but I may be mistaken.
Here is the UAB Sports write up on it: (Not sure how you get to win 7-0 via forfeit, but whatever ......)

From UAB Sports:

BIRMINGHAM, Ala.--Designated player Kristen McGrath hit a three-RBI home run in the bottom of the third inning as UAB softball topped Chattanooga, 3-0, on Tuesday at the UAB Softball Field.

A second game was scheduled, but Chattanooga (26-22) forfeited, and UAB will be credited with a 7-0 win, advancing the team to an overall record of 34-13.
Forfeited softball games result in a 7-0 "score" because it is a 7 inning game. A forfeited baseball game would have a score of 9-0.
It was mentioned via twitter that it was possible that the opponent was experiencing internal team turmoil.
It happens.
Heard that the Mocs were mad at their coach and wouldn't take the field.

Game against JSU is now in extra innings. 1-1 in the top of the 8th.
Well it certainly isn't mentioned anywhere in the news so somebody is clamming up.
Going into 9th inning now.
Nothing happened in the 9th except one of our batters got hit by a pitch. Going into the 10th.
Got out of the top of the 10th. JSU had a runner on 3rd with 1 out. They had a pop fly to the OF and the runner at 3rd didn't tag up until the throw to home was missed by the catcher, but the pitcher was right there to scoop it up. The runner was thrown out at home to end the top of the inning.
11th inning.
