They don't want to lose their access, tickets, and the paper / al.com does not want to lose its advertisers.

Where were all these commenters who are presently so upset over paying Bailey back when UA was paying Gene Stallings a heck of a lot more to NOT coach from his front porch of his ranch in Paris, TX for the two years he needed to become vested in the state's TRS. I don't know which of the 3 levels of payment he chose, but he may still be collecting the $5,000+ per month since he "officially" retired two years after going back to Texas in the mid90s. Apparently none of the fans hold him responsible for bringing DuBose in as his replacement or beginning the era of NCAA probation which began with him.
So now gumps are up-in-arms at the BoT.

For Alabama, it is well worth the money to pay Bailey off instead of having the real reason why he is gone come out in the open.
The real reason being the white frats at Alabama don't want to be forced to have black members. (& probably vice versa)

It's not the black or minority fraternities or sororitties. Its a few fraternities and sororities at uat that have white or other ethnicities in black organizations I know of personally.
It's a good ole boy and ole gal system up there. UAB is a little more deversified with its organizations. A LITTLE not a lot, but even that is more than the blaiant way it is done at uat.
But even with this, people will put thier heads in the sand as long as the footbawl team is winning. But let it happen with us, and all the looneys and nay sayers come out of the woodwork.
