Good point about Marshall.

Agree that Marshall on the road is probably a loss, but I give us a shot against Houston...after all, Texas State beat them.
This is in no way a flame, but if you guys win any game(s) on your schedule this year it will have to be considered a huge upset. Honestly, I'd like to see y'all have a great season. Larry Coker, as great a coach as he is, has to have his doubts also. This schedule is murderous for a program still in it's infancy. No doubt in my mind that Coach Coker will build a winner at UTSA eventually, but 2013 is going to be a tough go. If I had to pick the possibility of one win, it would have to be Tulane as y'all have 'em at home. Good luck.

Yeah, it's going to be tough. Heck, just keeping up with teams this season is going to be tough. My feeling is that if this team is at the point where they can compete with teams, they are going to find a way to win. This team has not been a team that finds ways to beat themselves. Coach Coker has (in some magic coaching way that he has) instilled this nature into the team.

This is the reason I have high hopes this season. But then, I'm a fan and I'll find success in our team in just about any outcome. We are so far past my initial expectations when UTSA started football. Even 0-12 will somehow be a success to me because these guys are already playing at a higher level than I expected them to be at this point.
I wouldn't be surprised at an 0-12 season, but I think we will win 3-4 games. I feel like we have a real shot against UNM, UAB, Tulane, and LaTech
Something I find interesting:

UTEP beat NMSU by 13 points.
UTEP lost to Rice by 9 points.

UTSA beat NMSU by 21 points.
UTSA lost to Rice by 19 points.

I think UTEP is a very winnable game.

As for Houston, they beat Rice by 21 points and lost to LaTech by 7.
I think Houston had a very bad OC for the TxSt game and I believe the LaTech game was the following week (which would be the first week with their new OC and our old OC). So I'll chalk those two losses up to bad coaching and transition coaching.

Basically, Houston to me is a long shot.

As for North Texas, well they lost to Houston by 23 points and only beat South Alabama by 8 points. UTSA beat South Alabama by only a FG. But I think the NT game is also very winnable.

So, I have winnable games as follows:
New Mexico
UTEP
UAB
Tulane
North Texas

Add to this list that our offense and defense seem to match well with LaTech and there are 6 winnable games. (I've decided SApuro is correct about Marshall so I'm marking that as a loss).

The only thing is that UAB and Tulane both had flashes of solid football play. It seems they have the talent on their respective teams, but it may be an Xs and Os coaching issue. If they solve that, then both of those teams should significantly up their games.

Wow, I'd actually be shocked if we went 0-12. Now, 4 years ago when we first got word that we were getting a football program, and you showed me this schedule for our third year, I wouldn't have been shocked at that time to see us go 0-12. But with the unprecedented success our young program has had in such a short time, it would jaw-dropping to me if we went winless. I'm expecting 5-7. And with regard to the title of the thread, when it comes to UTSA Football, it's never too early...lol. 'Runners!

I suppose I could have chosen my words more carefully. I fully expect we'll win 3-4 games. However, 0-12 is more of a possibility this season than past seasons. I knew we'd win some games in season one, and some in season 2. Honestly, I was (pleasantly) surprised at a couple of the wins last year.

I was also. I was expecting 6-6 last year.
There is no way we go winless this season. Everytime I look at the schedule I see 6-6 but would bet my paycheck that 3 of the games this season are sure wins (New Mexico, UNT and Tulane) Run'Em
