Matt Cassel expected to compete for Vikings starting QB job. Now en route to Vikings facility for physical after agreement, per @JayGlazer

Just proves how much of a muster duck the organization is.
This is good. Ponder won't accept a demotion very well, and Joe might get a chance for an open competion. If Joe isn't given a shot at QB, maybe they will give him a chance to play another position.
I've only seen parts of the opening episode, but thought Rothgar's wife the blonde shield-maiden was ultra-hot and she kicked the **** out of her two attackers.
The problem between Joe and the Vikings is that he's too different from Ponder. In the playoffs, they had to shoehorn Joe into a game plan that had been built around Ponder's strengths (whatever those might be), and you saw the result. The 49ers need a backup since they traded Alex Smith, and they wouldn't have to change much if Kaepernick got hurt and Joe was forced into action. I bet the Vikings would take a 7th rounder for him.

+1
I wonder w/ the loss of Harvin this year & Rice last year, that the Vikes don't try to get him in the game using his athleticism at WR unless they spend a bunch in the draft, not many big name WRs in FA mkt.

That's what I was thinking also. Makes me look at my Norwegian wife in a slightly different light... 03-phew
How bad do you have it when you sign a QB that the chiefs released?
The steelers need a back up QB

I'm not saying we don't need a different backup QB, but the Steelers have signed JP Wilson and Bruce Gradkowski over the past week. Gradkowski played at Seton Lasalle H.S. in Mt. Lebanon.

I am not happy with either of those
Before he gets an ACL or other such injury, I would like for his agent to market him to the CFL where his mobility and arm strength would make him a valuable teammate. If Darryl Hackney had gone there before he "plumped up", he might still be in pro ball.

I'd love to see an agent try and sell that. "Yes, I know you are a backup QB in the NFL, where the earning potential is great, but I think we should market you to the CFL, where no one will see you play, you'll make less money, and if you think Minnesota is cold, wait to you get a load of Winnepeg"

Joe Webb is vested in the nfl pension. Every year earns him an extra $470 a month. He would have to spend two years in the cfl to be vested in what is similar to a 401k where the league matches 3%. The average nfl salary is about $770,000 vs about $85,000 in the CFL. Joe is making $903,333 a year averaged out over the life of his contract. The highest paid player in the CFL makes $400,000 a year. If Webb gets cut and can't get another NFL gig he CFL would be a legit option
We could use him in Washington. They could put him in when Bobby Three Sticks is injured and not change the scheme.
It think the point is, he could be utilized a lot better than he has been. There or somewhere else. By getting Cassel, Minnesota has shown again that they aren't too interested in him playing QB. If he doesn't get a chance to play there at another position that puts him on the field, he should try to move on.
I don't know that Joe is interested in playing another position. Every draft site I read said he was an athlete, and would be a project WR. So far, Minnesota has given him a chance to play QB. Ponder and Cassell are very different QB's then Joe, and that's obviously what Minnesota wants. I wish Joe would swithc to WR, but I don't think it's going to happen.
