In part, as reported by the UT Alumni Association, this plans includes:
The creation of new colleges as well as interdisciplinary schools. In most cases, the new colleges are actually evolutions and/or combinations of existing colleges or units. These new colleges (like the College of Communications) will better position the University of Toledo graduates in today’s competitive market. Just as important, the plan will create an online learning entity, interdisciplinary schools, a commission on global initiatives and a new campus governance structure - the University Council.
A few key steps toward implementing Imagine 2017 have already begun. We knew that upgrades and improvements were necessary to attract prospective students and their parents during fall preview days. To that end some physical improvements are being done. The University will make full use of Libbey Hall by renovating the 2nd and 3rd floors. Doermann Theater will be upgraded and MacKinnon Hall will be converted to single room housing and Honors College offices.
An extensive and aggressive marketing plan is being developed based on current marketing research to best determine how to enhance and enlarge the Honors College once a new deans are hired for this college.
