Prudent decision under the circumstances, just get well and stronger, KC. Still, this only serves to further deplete the UAB bench. ******* "buzzard luck", man!
It doesn't deplete the bench when he hasn't played all year.
Wow. USM hasn't lost a home game since Purifoy's buzzerbeater two years ago.
I would be nice for that to happen again. I hope we play well. We are going to have a nice crowd down there.
FWIW the alumni bus trip has been canceled.
This was a good decision for KC. He wouldn't have likely meaningfully contributed to the team this year, and he would have burned a year of eligibility on garbage time.

Work on developing a set, standing still shot, and we will see you next year!
I'd much rather see Whitaker "let go" and we regain his scholarship. He'll never be better than a mediocre bench player in this league. Obviously, that can't happen.
I think he's got potential to develop into a pretty deadly 3 point shooter. And With his height at the 1 or 2 position he's got potential..

I think that covers about half of the roster right now.
I think that covers about half of most everyone's roster.
I prefer to see how he does with another year in the weight room and some good coaching instead of running the kid off. He has a skill set that if refined could be beneficial to the program. Not everyone can be a starter and every good team has its roll players.

??? this is based off of what? Do you remember how bad Cam looked when he first arrived at UAB? I don't think Whitaker looked great in the games last year, but I think Mike Davis made a lot of our guys nervous on the court. I think the potential is there to be a decent player, and he is still young. Let him come back from his injury next season and see how he plays before you resort to judgments of this sort.
I'm not sure that all of his shooting woes can't be attributed to his foot, adjusting, etc.

I can name several players that couldn't hit the side of a wall their first year that turned out to be pretty darn good.
He went off on SMU.
Who hasn't?

BINGO
What all these "evaluational" views boil down to is -Let the BBHC decide on what KC can contribute next year and go from there. I hope the additional year of development through good coaching will result in improvement for the player and the team. "Trust the Haase"
I'm probably being too harsh. The losses I've watched this year have jaded me. Like Attala said, let's see what he does after a solid year of conditioning and learning under Haase.

Maybe, but I think Davis did a very poor job of building depth on his teams. All three newcomers that Haase brought in are big contributors while we still wait on Davis recruits to "develop". Hoopy Jones, Preston Purifoy, Jordan Swing, and KC Whitaker were all three star players out of high school. Quincy Taylor had an ESPN rating of 91 out of prep school, higher than any other Mike Davis freshman recruit. Right now I think the three Haase guys are playing better than all of them. That bodes well for 2013 signing class.

There are some exceptions like Cam and AJ but overall Davis was horrible at talent evaluation and development.
