Don't look now but it looks like FGCU, SU and JU (of all teams!) are tied for first in the ASUN...all with 4-2 conference records.

This seems to be another January surge for Stetson....hopefully this time can can keep it going.

I'm glad to see the coaching staff begin to have some success down there.
As I read some where else, let's just hope that SU is the JV team for Belmont. That would be quite a respectable team as Belmont has a great program. The coaches have brought in some good players this year and that should continue with next year's class. The coaching staff and players seem to be having some level of success... let's just hope they can continue that for the rest of the season!!! They should have the full fledged Varsity team there by next year to build on the success of this year. lol

Go Hatters!! 02-13-banana 04-cheers
Let us not forget that Waugh brought in some significant talent. 75%+ of this team's points, and 50%+ of its rebounds are from Waugh's players. If Stetson could have kept Forbes, Jacobo, and Walden in school, Stetson would be scary good.

And Graham!.....Forbes was terrible IMO. But there's a reason why many of them left and it wasn't just because of the Waugh leaving. They weren't all that bright either.

On another note, I get a big kick outta this article put out about the incoming freshman at SU...

These guys look so funny to me. Like they just got off the turnip truck or something. Of course I wish them nothing but the best. But still, they look like 8th graders.
Perez, Green, Pegg, Naburgs and Graham are all Waugh guys. In fact, the top six scorers on the team are Waugh guys. Will be interesting to see next season.
Waugh had a good recruiting class
I don't believe Green was a Waugh recruit, he was a late addition significantly after Alexander and staff came on board.
Then I will amend my statement...five of the top six scorers are Waugh recruits.

Really good talent on this Stetson team recruited by Waugh. Not a discussion. We will see how next staff will do with it.
At 5-2 in conference play and with sole possession of first place, this must be latest in the season that Stetson has held the ASUN/TAAC lead. With Limbscomb at home, it may lengthen.

Anyone have any stats on this?
This season is shaping up to be better than they have been in many years.
as Paul Simon sang, these are the days of miracle and wonder.
I am very sure that no one saw Stetson and JU at 5-2 and tied for 1st at this point of the season.
SU Over Limbscomb. Stetson's now 6-2. I was listening to the game last night and they said this was SU's first 6-2 conference start since 98-99! And the 1st 5 game win streak since 08 I believe.

Go Hats!
Whether this happens or not, it's been a very long time since Stetson has even been in this conversation

Let's hope they can finish the second half of their conference season as strong as the first half of conference play has been
Stetson does appear to be "better than the rest". By the rest I mean teams not named Mercer and FGCU. The jury is still out on FGCU, they seem to be fading. Stetson did play tough in Macon, so they cannot be taken lightly. Jacksonville took a tough victory vs. Mercer as well. It will be interesting to see the result in Macon, though.

Well so much for that! One pt. heart breaker to JU last night.

Everyone seems to be in the thick of things within the conference race though which is a positive.

Go Hattters
Fear the mighty Spartans with their microscopic arena! :)
Well, Hope SU wins tonight to bounce back. So far, still a pretty amazing season for a new staff to make the turn around. Go Hatters
