Four Blazers score in double figures. UAB now 9-3.
Don't let the final score fool you, it took a strong run by UAB and clutch play from the likes of Khoria Newman, Amber Jones & Michelea Kleist to pull this one out, it was a nailbiter for about 2/3 of the game, UNCG has 2 ladies that were just tormenting UAB, one of them as named "Lucy" (#12) and the other one "Jasmine" #55- big young lady about 6'2, strong inside game)...The defense against dribble drives has to improve, UAB's been playing "Matador" defense in halfcourt sets, although it wasn't as bad as it was against Morehead State (& the coach who dresses like Elton John!), it was notable enough to address before conference play, plus another old nemesis is coming this Wednesday, Chattanooga...Damn, wish I could be there, I'm a prisoner of work that day, it's an afternoon tipoff, high noon, to be exact...TCB, UTD, Ladies...Strong work today, congratulations, very entertaining game, they even brought a few fans with them, did UNCG. They're in the SOCON, so they'll be crossing swords with Samford this year. Wouldn't mind seeing that game myself, would be interesting.

You're right on about the game, esp. the part about the "Matador" defense. Was nice the way they went on the run in the 2nd half.
Did you see/hear Coach Smith when she was threatening the players over their lack of defense? Couldn't hear it well, but seems she was saying something about making them "go full court trap" if I have to.
Got a good chuckle out of that one.

I heard her exclaim something, and it got real quiet in there!
I loved it when she leaped up off the floor and came down double-stomping when one of her players (think it was Chelsee) didn't do something on the defensive end, near their bench, a near-steal of a pass, I think. She still got "hops"...Even with those high-heels! She is the essence of that team, I have told her this, they would be so lost without her on that bench to coach them, never was this more evident than last year, when she had to miss a big conference game at Bartow for a family situation, I think it was either Tulsa or UTEP.
