Mine:

Akron 3

I don't normally make score predictions, but if I were to do so here is what I would look at:

Akron had the 116th scoring defense last year. Boston College, Memphis, and Marshall had the 43rd, 105th, and 74th last year, respectively. We beat those teams by a combined 87-9.

UCF had the 10th ranked rushing defense last year, against the 82nd ranked rushing offense Boston College (57 yards gained against average 130), 119th Memphis (33 versus 84 average), and 90th Marshall (43 versus 120 average). Akron ranked 100th with an average of 114.4

All the other stats are similar. I don't see this game being any different than those three games. If Akron does score, it won't be until the 2nd half, if not the 4th quarter.

I think it will be like that, too. Look at UTEP last year. UCF shut them down until late in the 3rd. Should be the same kind of performance.

CBS Sports Networks show "Inside College Football" Just picked 4 upsets this weekend. One was Akron over UCF.......

But beyond that, the UCF helmet was always on the cut aways, along with Army and Boise St. They also spend half the time talking about non BCS schools which I thought was pretty neat.

I'm withholding judgement cause I've seen UCF screw up a wet dream and as far as I know Akron is just dangerous enough.

I'm thinking tighter than most people are guessing. UCF always struggles on the road no matter who the opponent. And Akron has a new coach and attitude. First games are always dangerous for road teams. I'm going UCF 23, Akron 17. Akron will get at least two scores on UCF turnovers.

UCF 30, Akron 10. I don't remember the last time I saw the first game of the season and felt really sold on the team. We always seem to struggle to put the pieces together the first game, often in the second as well.
