I hadn't heard that Rice was in on him. He started his sophomore & junior years at Oregon State, then was away from the team last season for personal reasons (not related to academics or violation of team rules, according to the Oregon State coach). He'd be a great final addition to the team (particularly if Lapray has 2 seasons of eligibility, as it would help balance the class sizes).

I don't see how we don't take another point guard for our last scholarship.

There is literally nobody on our roster right now to spell Adams.

Didn't Lapray play point before his growth spurt?
Duvivier played point guard at Oregon State. Lost his job to Gary Payton ll perhaps politics. I think he led the team in assists his sophomore year. He would be a HUGE get for the Owls. Would complete our recruiting, balance out the scholarships and give us 2 experienced PG. This team could still win 15 to 18 games unless our OOC schedule is a lot tougher. The cupboard isn't bare. I'd also like to see Pera play more guys and not 2 or 3 players 35 to 38 minutes a game.
Oh yea Duvivier is Canadian and was all academic PAC 12 a couple of times. Coach Pera I think will get him. Christian Covington we need your big smile to seal the deal.

The real question is, would Duvivier start over Adams?

I like Adams, but Duvivier started for the 2015-16 Oregon State team that made the NCAA tournament (losing to VCU in the 1st round). Plus he would be a 5th-year senior while Adams will be a sophomore. If Rice does get him and he does start over Adams, it isn't a knock at all against Adams (who would likely get significant minutes). Speculation complete!
Former 3 star recruit transferring to Rice from TCU. Has to sit out a year. Josh Parrish. Not sure if it was previously reported.

Whoa, this is kind of huge. Dude was a Top 150 player nationally in HS.

Nice!
Does anyone know if we are still pursuing LePear Toles
Transfer Losses:
2 years of Evans
1 year of Koulechov
1 year of Jackson
2 years of Letcher-Ellis
3 years of Lott
4 years of Douglas

Gains:
3 years of Josh Parrish
2 years (I think) of AJ Lapray
1 year of Dylan Jones
4 years of Osborne
4 years of Hunter
4 years of Spence

We also lost Drone to graduation, but his scholarship is still open.

Obviously it doesn't work quite like I have listed (1 year of Koulechov is really his 1 year, plus 3 years of another recruit). Still, I think the staff has done a remarkable job of filling the open scholarships.

The freshman in this class are interesting, either because they were somewhat unheralded (Spence), saw their recruiting interest start strong a few years ago before tailing off some recently (Hunter) or were late-risers (Osborne). None of them were really established recruits who maintained a certain level of interest over the past 1-2 years.

Remember that when Rhoades was hired, he had 6 open scholarships and only filled 4 of them (Mency, Koulechov, Van Green, & Nate Pollard). Obviously, Pera was stepping into an easier recruiting situation since he had already been on staff and involved in recruiting players for Rice. But Pera's 1st class is looking head-and-shoulders above what Rhoades did his first year. Particularly true when you consider that both Koulechov and Mency were recruited by Pera and Van Green was recruited by Carlin Hartman!
Turner from BC off the board to Northwestern.
Coach Pera is making us forget about Rhoades pretty fast. :)I can't wait until next year.

Wow Duke swooped in at the last minute and scooped Jordan Goldwire, the PG from Atlanta that we appeared to be in good position for a couple weeks ago.

Amazing. All of a sudden Duke decides they're gonna recruit 3-stars and lower.

** Should be noted Goldwire just said that he was going to commit to Eastern Kentucky before Duke showed up, so it doesn't look like we were gonna get him anyway.

I would guess that he'll be a four star tomorrow.
One of the grad transfers we have talked about (Whitman from William & Mary) is going to Kansas. Of course I really don't think we were in his radar. I see another local transfer now is Zach Lofton of TSU. He will be going to his fourth school next year (can't recall the 1st school but then it was Minnesota and TSU last year). I think he had 32 points or so against us in the fall? But by the end of the year, he wasn't playing as much or as effectively for TSU.
