David Goricki tosses out some names including Shane Clipfell, whom I guess most EMU fans would favor. He has a good persona and presumably very well liked when he was here with Suzy Merchant.

"He could look at former Eastern Michigan assistant and current Michigan State associate head coach Shane Clipfell. Clipfell, however, is considered to be the frontrunner for the Western Michigan job.:

Shane would be my first choice. I like the way SCU played us if their asstanst has at least 5 years and is available that would be good. If any of the top 20 teams in the WNCAAs has at least 5 years as an asst I would have to take a look. Also any of the head coaches in the top 15 in D2 would be good. Top 5 of D3 at least a look but a strong hard look.
Here's my favorite unless she's in the running for the U of M head job.

another name with an EMU and Merchant connection:

She and Shane would be very good choices.

I hope I have the number right, but someone posted there are 5 (?) MAC women's HC jobs open.

I believe they would be EMU, WMU, BG, Akron (?),

EDIT: Akron is wrong. It is Kent State.

Also, as indicated below: BSU.

Hopefully someone who doesn't cheat.
What will make it tough is the number of top local area (Southeast MI/Northwest Ohio) teams seeking coaches whom we will have to compete:

UofM... (Big Ten),

BG (top women's program in the MAC)

Someone like Clipfell might have many good offers.

BG would be tough to turn down. Great program. Great arena and crowd support.
Dear Friends,
When is signing day for women? Just asking because it may impact the fact that we do not have a coach, and it will probably be a few weeks before we get one. Are the assistants still around? If, no one is there, who is in charge of recruiting?
Ken,

I don't worry much about women's recruiting.

Unless I'm wrong, women are allowed 15 scholarships which means their squads are big.

Regardless, of what does or does not happen with signings, the women should have at least 10 scholarship players, maybe 11 or 12.
By the way, I should correct my list of open jobs:

it isn't Akron, but Kent State.

I believe it is EMU, WMU, BG, BSU, and KSU in the MAC.

UofM also...

This good timing will get Clipfell some extra $ because of the demand for his services.
BTW, I started a MAC women's coaching vacancy thread on the main board.
While I have no "inside knowledge" I think Mahogany Green would be an interesting candidate. She was an assistant at EMU and has been responsible for recruiting and for the guards at CMU for the last three years...
