Winners:
  • Temple. (Obviously)
  • NBC. Maybe it a coincedence that its parent company is based in Philadelphia (Comcast). Anyway, it won't hurt.
  • Massachsuetts. May help get them to the front of the line in a few years.
  • Louisville. Rick Pitino wanted two schools. They listened.

Losers:
  • ECU. (Still the bridesmaids.)
  • Villanova. No need for a second Phila. team in BE football.
  • Andrea Adelson, ESPN. She's been waiting, just waiting, to write the league's obituary. Keep waiting.
I think a winner in this is USF/UCF. If Louisville stays put, UCF and USF both will be in the eastern division.

I think the big loser in this is the alliance. This kills any chance for northeast prominince for the alliance.
Great post Hoya
Add the alliance to the losers! We should have a dynamic list!
I really like the Temple add if it comes to fruition. Great move by the Big East.

LOL! I love it.

Another winner: The Big East Basketball Conference tournament. We bring another ready-made rivalry into the fray. Temple-Nova!!

The BEAST is back: Best Basketball conference in the land.
Been saying Temple should have been added years ago. Glad it is finally done. Both RU and UCONN will add another nearly NE team. BE basketball just got another shot in the arm. Memphis and Temple can definitely replace WVU and Pitt in basketball.
I'd say basketball in general is a major winner. Get 2 top 50 programs in a month? That's really good. And heck- women's hoops- add Temple and Memphis- 2 top 50 teams as well. Let's see how they fare vs UConn's women!!!!
If it happens I like this new conf even better. I can't wait (well I have to) for 2013, assuming of course we are here on 12/22/2012.
Losers : Atlantic 10 basketball and Xavier U.

Despite Marinatto's public denial, our guys say Pitino made a big difference for us. Next time we play Louisville in Memphis, Pitino will likely get a huge ovation, followed promptly by a round of boos. OR, maybe all mixed up together. 03-lmfao
Losers: The western division of the BE. Unless of course, the BE adds a true western team as #14.

The programs we really want out West have slowed their roll... So we've slowed ours. We have time now to wait it out. 2015 is still a ways away.

Me too!!!!

Temple is my back up team on NCAA. I don't know why but since I was a Cosby child I think that swayed my opinion. Plus how can you not root for a team that got booted out of a BCS conference....lol
I don't think any ECU fans view themselves as a loser with the add of Temple to the BE. After being denied repeatedly Pirates fans know that no BE scenario includes ECU. Our future does not involve this conference.

The "Alliance" is definitely the big loser. Temple was the only school left that they could add that would actually be a positive impact, and not just someone else collecting a paycheck.
