a couple of reports have mentioned an ohio school, but don't name names, who do you think it is?
Toledo! But Akron does have a new stadium.
The good one.

You'd argue correctly.
Cincinnati came to its sense? 05-stirthepot
Or
Does Ohio St want to get away from Michigan that bad?
The Luckeyes? They are playing UCF and UAB next year.
depends... is it a FB-only? Is it an all-sport? Or is it a BB only?

My choice changes varying on which one
Toledo....they are tired of getting beat on Tuesday night games LOL.
If its for TV Market..Its Akron
Akron for no logical reason
Toledo.
I'll be honest, I'm LEANING toward Toledo.. but I'd need to know which part of the sports-discussion they're coming in for?
TV Market..
Cleveland -Akron 17
Toledo 73

You might guess who would win this if it becomes about TV Dollars

Why would you pick Akron over Toledo?

Toledo DMA is close to 1 million and I don't think Akron has even half of that population. They are rolled up under the Cleveland DMA but still.

I suppose Akron might be more valuable that Toledo if you are looking at basketball as a criteria. It would be a nice break for MAC football if Akron hit the road, the worst performing school for several years running.

I'd assume all. Toledo would be best all things considered. Good market and good programs overall. Ohio has solid athletics but no market, they actually share the Marshall market.
But Akron SUCKS. Major.
If they are trying to convince Temple to come in all sports could it be Xavier? Xavier, UMass and Charlotte would be a lot of Temple's A10 friends.

Cleveland is 50 miles from Akron though so counting it as a consolidated market is kind of a stretch.

That is like saying the University of Dayton carries the Cincinnati market....

Toledo has been the most successful MAC school over the last 15 years and that is something the alliance can run with. Toledo's record crowd is 37,000 and regularly can get in the upper 20's for big games. Their series with Marshall when they were in the league was a nasty one with 32-34k at either house when the two schools played.

if that's the case, I'm DEFINITELY leaning Toledo.. Akron is arguably the WORST football team in the NCAA's at this level. So they wouldn't be even a consideration to me...

1. Toledo (all-sports) 2. Miami (OH). (probably my top pick if FB only) 3. Dayton (Basketball only )and then the rest.

Yes, Akron's a better basketball team.. but market wise, Akron is it's own "subdivision" of Cincinnati.. so that cancels out the Cleveland vs. Toledo arguement (as I see it.. don't shoot me, it's just an opinion!)
