They left out the part about him dumping the guys 10 miles out of town, driving ahead, sitting at the top of hill in that van, munching on an apple, clicking that stop-watch as they passed, and then driving another 4 miles to do it to them again! That's good stuff!


I love this man. He's seen it all, been through it all, and has been such a good friend and mentor to so many. I didn't think he'd make it past the cancer. I remember sitting with him at practice one day and asking him how he did it, he told me that he just refused to give up to something like cancer. Good for him and good for us for having him around for so long.

My brother-in-law ran for him and he's stayed close to many of his former runners.

Good luck to him and I hope he enjoys life on the wild side. The end of an era.
