UL Lafayette just cut their athletic budget by $1million due to state budget problems. http://theadvocate.com/home/1678148-125/...eeper.html
Growth during a recession is the best way to become a stronger institution after said recession, and that's how UL is positioning itself.

Our student housing is booming, with all of the new on-campus housing construction in its final phases. Parking towers are springing up, massive student union renovation is about to take place. RCAF contributions are reaching an all-time high. UL's partnering with LSU for a Medical School in 2013 at the old Our Lady of Lourde's Hospital on campus is looking like a fine joint venture.

Our baseball field renovation is about to begin - a fitting upgrade for a program that draws crowds that place it within the top 20 in the nation in attendance. Followed by Track and Field and Cajun Field upgrades.

Nice attempt at troll bait, but things are looking wondrous over here at UL and our coffers are still looking nice.

Thanks for your interest in our University and our Athletic Program.

Geaux Cajuns.
To bad our massive increase in attendance and payout from the bowl game more than covered those impending costs. Let me go poop myself now.
Sky is falling....in other news...Dallas residents cannot find North Texas University on a map...think's Mean Green is another nickname for the clap.

So how do you feel it will affect UL's athletic program? Please give us your take, so I can make you look foolish once again.

Zee...that's not allowed, not logic is accepted when bad arguments are involved.
Y'all do understand UL doesn't get all that bowl money right? They split it with everyone in the SBC...

If you will give us a link to even just ONE post where you made me look foolish then I will answer your question.

This cut is not $1M towards athletics, get your facts straight. This will result in a reduction of about $150k in the athletic department. Also it is up to the university itself whether or not to apply it to academics. Why don't you worry about pulling your own head out of your ass. All you do is come on this site and whack the hornets nest when it comes to Louisiana, ULM and even La Tech even though they have no bearing on this forums.

yeah, why?

I believe that this quote is what started this:

The University of Louisiana at Lafayette has a $3.32 million cut that means $1 million less in library acquisitions, academic services and research equipment; a $1 million cut to athletics; and another $1 million hit to the university’s research, economic and workforce development centers.

Yes we do understand, but we also understand that all tickets sold through the Louisiana ticket office will come to the Cajuns. Which at just under 19,000 tickets sold though our box office we will take in just under $600,000. Revenue from the TV contract from the bowl is what is split, unless I am mistaken, which I do not think I am.

Also why the **** does Les Miles have a $8.8million consulting contract with the state that carries over 3 years?

I have come to believe that the biggest problem facing the ULL fans is an obvious lack of reading skills. Do they teach English in that area? Look at the article and I believe paragraph 16. Does that say there is a reduction of about $150K or does it specifically say $1million? If you dont understand that please reply and I will try to explain it better.

Holy cow people. He just posted what he read in an article. Some of these replies go way over the top. Lay off the caffeine. 01-wingedeagle

Just a heads up for you, but this guy has a long history of **** starting with cajun fans, and this was just another attempt to try to stir the pot.

See... this is the type of garbage that gets people stirred up. If you don't like the guy or what he said take it up with him. Their is no need to start bashing UNT.
The Cajuns have plenty of additional revenue from 11000 additional fans at each game and additional RCAF foundation money to more than offset any reduction in state money. Our budget will be much higher next year that this year.

Nice try though.. Might want to see what ULM will do about their cuts though.
