Miss. St. fills up on Sun Belt cupcake in 2012

Middle Tennessee State will be getting a hefty paycheck for playing Mississippi State next season.
A release from the schools states that the Blue Raiders will bank $930,000 for a trip to Starkville next October.
“With the uncertainty of NCAA legislation surrounding the cost of attendance and wanting to move forward with some on-campus projects, we felt a guarantee game in 2012 was necessary,” said MTSU AD Chris Massaro. “We now have non-conference games with Mississippi State, Memphis, and Georgia Tech, which is the final game of a three-game series. We are currently in negotiations for a home game with another non-conference opponent.”
It’s interesting to see Massaro mention the NCAA’s stipend legislation for athletes. Earlier this week, the NCAA suspended the rule allowing individual institutions to grant upward of an extra $2,000 to student-athletes on top of their athletic scholarship.
A primary concern for just about every of the 125 schools who signed the override was the inability for some programs to afford the extra costs associated with the stipend, thus putting them at what they felt was a disadvantage.
How does this match up with our deal with MissState?

I don't have any inside information nor do I remember hearing anything but the $$ amount quoted seems rather high given the proximity between Murfreesboro and Starkville. Maybe AJ or some of the others closer to the Administration can give more light on what we get for our game.
We get Miss State in our building is what we get.

I think we get something around $250,000 per game in Starkville. As USAjags said , the real payoff is getting the Bulldogs to Mobile.
With a sell out here in Mobile....at a $20 to $25 price...we could stand to make 1.5 mil + on the three games. It may turn out to be 3 losses because of recruiting that MissState is doing....but, it should give us fodder to upgrade our recruiting by having an SEC team on our schedule for those three years.
Could be a fair trade....but a little short of the deal MTSU has garnered for one game.
It certainly is a good deal for MissState. Two games in their park for only $500,000.

I think the intangibles we get from having an SEC team play us in Mobile are worth their weight in gold. Really, MState is doing us a whole bunch of good with the series. I just hope we actually get all three games.
