According to Ross Dellenger, who covers Jackson State sports and the SWAC for the Jackson Clarion-Ledger, Brandon Bridge may visit USA.

Best I can tell, he had a good year as a freshman, then struggled at the beginning of this year and may have had a falling out with the coaching staff after losing his starting job. He's originally from Ontario. He was the 2010 SWAC Freshman of the Year after throwing for more than 2000 yards and rushing for more than 600. He had 19 passing TDs and 8 on the ground. He only completed 51 percent of his passes and also threw 13 picks. If he does transfer to a D1 institution, he'll have to sit out 2012 and will have two years to play starting in 2013.

You can see highlights here and here.
The thing worth noting here is that Bridge came in as a true freshman and had an excellent year, then there was a coaching change in the off-season and Battle never seemed to get on the same page with the new coaches.

It's also worth noting that the new HC apparently didn't get off on the right foot with many people, and he rubbed so many people the wrong way, the alumni association wanted him gone halfway through his first season. At his introduction press conference after taking the job, he referred to Bridge as "Air Canada" and it wasn't taken as a term of endearment by anyone that was there.

Really, really athletic QB with very good size.
The coach has now been put on administrative leave. The more I read about this guy and the more I read about the circumstances surrounding Alcorn State, the more inclined I am to think that Bridge would be a solid addition.

I've thought this since I heard Bridge was leaving. Spears has been a trainwreck at Alcorn. He's apparently just not very likable. He came across as really petty in everything I read regarding Bridge's situation.
Would Mr. Bridge be someone we should be interested in? Would he be someone that CJJ thinks will fit in his plans at Quarterback?

I guess that's a question you'd have to ask Coach Jones, but if we're bringing him in for a visit, I would say there must be at least some level of interest from the USA side.
We already have several QB's that are untested. Fetner, Peavey, Powell is not signed but has committed to USA and then there is CJ and Myles. When do stop looking or do you never stop looking? That can leave a QB wondering if his time is being well spent talking to South.

Agreed, USA needs to sign the best, but what do the coaches tell the guys that are already here. Do they take away scholarships? I don't have an answer.

I would think that there could always be the possibility of talking to one or more about changing positions too.
I'm not sure that any of them has ever played another position.
Good post, EJ65!
Last word.....is crucial. Is it SJ?

I post to create a response. Your response's are very flattering.

At least that's the way I am going to take them.

I like it when people agree with me. So, keep it up partner.

That may be true, but some schools still spot guys who can contribute elsewhere. I just want the best guys in the best spots to compete in the Sun Belt next year.
I like having an opinion on people and things. Thanks cb.

But, lets not divert from the topic of the post about the Alcorn State QB's visit to USA.
Jereme Jones sounds sold on the kid. Based on his facebook comment, I'd guess Bridge may be headed our way.
USA and Northern Colorado have offered scholarships. Other schools have offered walk-on spots, but he's not interested in those.
