TOP-25 MATCH-UP . . . Oregon faces its stiffest test to date in front of a regional television audience in a venue where it has been successful only once in its last three visits. The Ducks seek to extend one of their longest successful strings in school history as well as the nation's second-longest winning streak as the Pac-10's top two rushing attacks collide in a battle to remain unbeaten in league play. A host of Oregon players await the opportunity to return home to play in front of friends and family as they search for a third consecutive win over UCLA for the first time ever. Oregon attempts to duplicate its best start within the past seven decades in a series where three of the last four games have been decided by five points or less. Decreased mistakes promise to be one of the week's biggest focal points for the league's second-most penalized team.

NATIONAL RANKINGS . . . Finishing last season second in the country in both the Associated Press and USA Today/ESPN polls, Oregon has moved up to seventh in the country in both rankings after breaking into the preseason ratings at 15th. UCLA has re-appeared in the coaches' poll at 25th.
HEAD COACH MIKE BELLOTTI . . . Ranking third on the Ducks' all-time winningest coaching list (65-23-0), Mike Bellotti now has accumulated a better winning percentage (73.9%) than any other football coach in school history with a tenure longer than two seasons. Leading the program to more overall wins during his reign than any other school in the Pacific-10 Conference, he stands as the winningest active coach in the Pac-10 based on conference winning percentage (66.7%), and 11th all time. Oregon's eighth-year head coach has accumulated a 38-19 record in Pac-10 encounters, which ranks him 18th in career league wins. Bellotti has played a vital role in assembling more than 20 percent (104 wins) of the university's all-time triumphs (507) in his 14-year Oregon association (six as offensive coordinator and eight as head coach). The 51-year-old former Cal State Chico mentor owns an 88-48-2 13-year career collegiate head coaching mark.
UCLA'S BOB TOLEDO . . . The former Oregon offensive coordinator (1983-88) has accumulated a 46-28 record (.622) in his seventh season as the Bruins' head coach to raise his career collegiate head coaching mark to 75-64 (.540). The 56-year-old California native has guided UCLA to a pair of Pac-10 titles since taking over the head coaching reins in 1996. His resume includes head coaching stints at UC-Riverside (1974-75) and Pacific (1979-82) and stops as an assistant coach at USC (1976-78), Texas A&M (1989-93) and UCLA (1994-95).
IN REMEMBRANCE OF CAS . . . The Ducks will don stickers on the backs of their helmets for the remainder of the season inscribed "Cas" in memory of Len Casanova, who dedicated over 50 years of his life to the University of Oregon as its head football coach (1951-66), director of athletics (1967-70) and fund-raiser. The state icon and one of the nation's most respected coaching legends passed away Sept. 30 at the age of 97. A list of his former assistant coaches includes Bill Bowerman, Jerry Frei, John Marshall, John McKay, John Robinson and Bruce Snyder. Some of his former players included Bob Berry, Mel Renfro, George Shaw and Dave Wilcox. The building that houses the athletics department offices and football locker room adjacent to Autzen Stadium is known as the Casanova Center.
