Let's hope USM doesn't come calling to CJJ to fill their now open head coach position.

I think we have 3 more years before anyone seriously pursues HCJJ.

And even then, I think it will have to be a pretty sweet deal for him to move out.
Being in your home town means a lot to some folks.
From what I can tell from meeting Coach Jones, he is one of those folks that has a lot of pride in our area and considers it a blessing that he is getting to do what he is doing for the area.

Maybe I am letting my own hometown pride influence my opinion of the man, but when I met him at an alumni event and got to have a nice talk with him, I got the impression that it would have to be Alabama that came calling for him to entertain thoughts of moving on.
Because he has as many ties to there as he does here.

I know for me, being born with the Gulf Coast in my blood, once I moved away all I could think about was getting back.
I think he would be a good candidate. But I do think he'll also weigh it out for himself. He can build something hard to walk away from in a somewhat short number of years. It would be a good idea to run at the next level for at least two years, if he were even wanting to look at something "bigger". Either way, I hope he sticks around for a long time.
I think it will be very hard to walk away, especially if we are as successful as he wants us to be. If I were him, the pride of building a great program from scratch would weigh heavily on a decision to move elsewhere.
In most cases in college football, money talks and coaches walk. In this particular case, I feel CJJ stays for several more years.

Exactly. Seems I read somewhere that he is committed here but it might be pretty hard for him to look his wife in the eye and try to explain to her why she would not be becoming a millionaire were he offered a 7 figure salary somewhere, someday.

And who could blame the man in that scenario? Certainly not MOI.

Now that you mention it, I remember that interview as well.
I don't recollect if it was on the TV show or one of the radio interviews, but he has definitely said almost those exact words.

It was on the Joey Jones show a couple of weeks ago.
I think his potential here is higher than it is at USM in that he can get his name on a lot of buildings before hes done.
Well, he actually got mentioned for the USM job in a real news source.

I strongly doubt they'd offer or he'd accept right now.

I would hope not at this time. However, in 5 yrs if he gets a Hugh Freeze type deal, I would wish him well with no hard feelings. Freeze's salary is going from around 200K to over 1M. It is also an SEC job. I am also sure the Michael Ohr, Sean Tuhey deal gave him an inside track.

USM is looking for someone to take over that has more experience at the FBS level. CJJ is not on their radar.
I would hope he isn't on anyones radar. He still has much to do here at USA.

To your point, my cousin is a D3 head coach who wants that ultimate bump. He was offered an FCS head coaching job, but turned it down to "refine" his HC skills for a couple more years.
I should have said maybe to your point.
