I like this. Will probably mean our Big East boards stop getting flooded by posters from these schools begging for inclusion into our conference, and we can focus on winning our games and improving our reputation.

Temple was never going to be invited to the Big East. Too many open wounds from the last time they were in the conference.

I had to think TCU was a long shot candidate at best. I would not have minded if we grabbed them, but I never considered them a realistic candidate for the Big East.

Maybe C-USA can become the 7th BCS league. I don't see any harm in that.
Cool story, bro.
Shouldn't you be over on the C-USA boards begging for inclusion over here, because nobody here likes you clogging up this newsgroup.

I love that meme.
the Temple posters are at least amusing; my favorite is how they rule the Philly sports scene
My favorite is when somebody in the Temple athletic department informed Bernard Pierce he was a Heisman Candidate, and he believed them. Poor kid, doesn't know he's not really a candidate and is being used as a PR gimmick/joke/novelty.

I never heard that; how sh!tty can you get
I think that would be a good move. While we still wouldnt be BCS, it would improve the conference I think.

TCU - best football option out there, very strong baseball program that would add to the conference that already features Rice, Tulane, ECU and Southern Miss

Temple - dont really know anything about them, but it would be a nice game for our northern fans, we would probably outnumber them in their own stadium if the 2006 ECU-Navy game in Annapolis is any indicator. Plus its easy to get to Philly.

Don't think it will happen though.
It would be great for TCU to re-join CUSA, but I am not sure they would want to because of their proximity and rivalry with SMU.

I had heard UTEP may be heading to the MWC to fill out a 12 team league (assuming BYU stays). If that is the case, I think Temple would be a great replacement. It provides a new market and a travel game for East Carolina and Marshall. Plus if they could get their basketball as well, it would be a good replacement for UTEP basketball.

They were kicked out of the Big East for misconduct.
They have a severe case of student apathy (huge school, but even when their hoops team is ranked they might only have 3,500 fans in a 10,000 fan arena, and let's not get started on football lack of support).
They usually bring about 13,000 fans to FB games, unless they are playing somebody with a good fan base in the area like Penn State, Villanova or now Rutgers.
Urban school, pretty good school for what their purpose is (educational opportunity for inner city kids). Nothing like Rice or Tulane academically, but better than most of the C-USA schools.

If their students and alumni cared at all about sports, they could be a good athletic school. Problem is, they don't have that in their culture. And the level of play is not a valid excuse, as their basketball team has had a lot of success and they were in a BCS conference for 10 years and still can't bring fans.
OrangeCrush is a Nova alum posing as a Cuse fan, so dont take his denigration of Temple too seriously.

Sounds like most of Conference USA Football.

Dallas, Houston, Memphis, New Orleans, Birmingham, El Paso. Big cities but no one cares about the respective schools football teams. which on a tangent: this is why ECU fans always harp on market size isnt the best indicator. some have shown potential (UTEP avg 47k their first year in CUSA) but most have just hovered around the 20-30k mark.

UTEP isnt really a big market, unless your adding cities across the border in Mexico :-). They function in that town as the only thing to do, which is why they do relatively well at the gate in basketball and football.
The current rumor posted on the CUSA board is Temple, TCU, AFA, and CSU going to CUSA, with 2 8-team divisions and one crossover game. Who knows? But there seems to be a whole lot going on behind the scene evidently...too many rumors from what posters are saying are sources that, while not 100% accruate, do provide good info.

ESPN is driving this again...the lesson MWC is learning is don't pizz off ESPN.

Very little of what he said is factual.
Dream on, fantasyman...

We do have a better TV contract and more market exposure. Lesson learned...don't F with The Mouse.

Wouldn't it make the most sense for Conference USA to make a major move to grab (if interested) TCU, Air Force, Army, Navy, Temple, and BYU or another MWC school?
