Seems pretty experienced. Worked the Barcelona-Inter UCL semi where Motta was sent off and Busquets was rolling on the round and peeking through his fingers. But other than that, nothing seems bad.
I'm happy with that appointment.
One of the most experienced and well-respected referees at this year's World Cup. Consider this appointment FIFA's way of saying "we're sorry for our inexperienced ref screwing you out of three points."

Or maybe...FIFA is saying the inexperienced guy made it too obvious and they needed a more experienced guy to screw the USA out of the WC without us noticing it.

I would go with this interpretation.
Or it could be we do not want another screwup with a US MNT team again, it is too much for us to take. Let us get a referee who actually has a clue what are the rules of soccer in the end.
