with Big Mike. I've really never heard anything definitive, but I've just gotten the feeling that the coaches have been dissatisfied with Mike's, let's call it dedication to the team. This may involve his struggles with his weight, making meetings on time, practicing hard, etc. On the other hand, I've heard nothing that would lead me to believe that he's not a "good kid". He obviously loves playing, seems to enjoy himself on the court, and plays hard. The reality is we need Big Mike to have a successful season. I realize this may be a difficult situation and you don't want to be seen as "coddling" any one player. But each player is an individual with their own quirks, both good and bad. Most coaches (other than Bob Knight) learn to deal or put up with some of that in order to be successful. I just don't want this to turn into another "Zach" situation (Nick or Wright).

And it very well could turn out to be.
I do not get the impression that Joe Kleine or Shields, either one, are the kind who are patient with less than maximum effort or with bad attitude of whatever sort. They are patient guys on a lot of things, but I doubt about that.
