I can't believe I'm going to say this, and Kevster may come to Nashville and pistol whip me, but I'm starting to think that Belmont's three fans (Superfan excluded) are starting to be more unrealistic than the KSU fans. Granted, BU has won the tourney the last three years only to get their arses blistered in the NCAA's, but to hear them tell it they are the second coming of Davidson.
RICK BYRD COULDN'T HOLD BOB MCKILLOP'S CLIPBOARD. I would really like to see a Davidson/Belmont matchup next year.
I think Kennesaw's growing numbers are scaring you....We keep gaining board members, and ETSU keeps having people drop off...quite a trend on both sides.
Our numbers will be fine when the administration at ETSU changes. The fans are there, but are choosing not to even talk about State until those two waterheads are gone.
Good luck with that. We have a strong president, a strong AD, and a strong basketball staff. You keep sniping your own people - that should help you bring more fans into the fold.
Calling Tony Ingle a strong basketball coach would be like saying Paul Hamilton was a good football coach.
Our issues are well documented, keep in mind that you guys are at the best you've ever been, we're at the lowest point as an athletic department, and we're still better.
We aren't even close to the best we have ever been. Our National Championship would have run through this league....we will get back to that level and better once we don't have the recruiting shackles of being in the grace period. Our recruiting is already starting to turn around, and it is only going to get better.
I hope no one from Kennesaw reads this, but I need to cleanse my conscience of something. After spending a morning car shopping in the area a month ago, I actually spent part of my morning in Kennesaw today!

Did look for the university. Followed three sets of signs pointing to Kennesaw State University. I finally stopped looking because I needed to get to my destination.

Kennesaw...twice in 29 days. Who would have thunk it????
Pretty easy to get to. You just turn west off Highway 75 (6-10 lane superhighway) and you are there in less than a quarter mile. Don't really know how you could miss it considering how small a town Kennesaw supposedly is to you ETSU fans :)

We don't drive cars in Kennesaw anyway remember? It is tractors 24/7.
kevster, you must have been in Atlanta, that's why you missed KSU 03-wink

They do have some nice facilities though, most of the buildings look new. That was at night though and Tony Ingle had just embarrassed Mercer.. so I didn't feel like looking around any more.

Are you saying that when you were in Division II, you were better than any current team in the ASun?

Boys, that should just about settle it. Where do we send the conference membership forms for Milligan and Tusculum?
Yes, when we won the national championship our team was better than any current Atlantic Sun team (07-08 season). We beat the only Division I team we played that year by 35 points at their place (Utah Valley State - had current NBA player Ronnie Price on their team). We won 26 games in a row to finish the season.... and finished 35-4. Our rotation often consisted of

PG: 6'7"
SG: 6'4"
SF: 6'5"
PF: 6'7"
C: 6'6"

All were big time athletes, and all could knock down the open shot save our C, who just happened to set the rebounding record for Division II during his two season at Kennesaw. So yes, we would have run through this league with that team. Unfortunately, that has no application to our current status, but I have to stand up for our DII team when it is challenged...we are not at our best ever, our team this year would have gotten beat by 20-30 points easy by our national championship team. Any claim that we are peaking is very misguided and silly.
Come on KB... you honestly think that a DII team would have "run through" ETSU or Belmont this year? Or any other ASun team for that matter? A division II team wins the national title every year, and it's a great accomplishment on that level. However, that does not carry over to division I. I see a very small team that lost to 4 division II squads on this title run. FGCU was like 27-3 last year in DII... not so much this year in DI, not even close.
I have seen a lot of basketball - Belmont would have been smothered by our defense. You couldn't breath much less get an open look. You may not believe what I am saying, but I am not speaking in hyperbole to try and get a rise. We may have lost a game or two in conference, but we would have won the regular season.

I didn't leave...I'm just waiting

P.S.

If you want to start taking dream team's from the past...then nobody in the A-Sun could ever dream of beating an ETSU dream team. The teams of the past argument is more than a little redundant.
Kennesaw basketball is a joke...they shouldn't even be a thread for dicsussion
Hoos,

That's a little harsh. Don't you think?

We can't turn a blind eye to that which repulses us.

There. Apology accepted.
Kev, I am just replying to "Kennesaw Basketball"...in his comment "Belmont would be smothered by our defense". Some fans just live in this fantasy reality (i guess in the land of 350 rpi). Anyways I just thought it was an ignorant comment since we played extremely well against some of the best perimeter defense (Duke) in the nation. I am pretty sure Kennesaw State does not match up anywhere close to Duke's defense.
What I really can't wait for is the next poll that says, Belmont fans or the million KSU fans Nick M brought over here to make all of our lives miserable unless you like Kennesaw State.
KSU is not too bad...

1st Year
December 3 Belmont  W 91-87 4-3 (2-0)
February 24 at Belmont  L 83-64 12-16 (10-9)

2nd
January 4 Belmont  L 63-45 5-11 (1-3)
January 27 at Belmont  L 85-66 8-15 (4-7)

3rd
January 24 Belmont  W 81-79 4-15 (2-4)

On our D-II team... Our bench from our championship team played Georgia Tech's final four team the year after and only lost by 13 or 14. Georgia Tech had all of their starters returning I believe. On that note I do not know that they would have crushed the ASUN but I think they would have maybe finished above .500.
Duke's defense this year wasn't very good....I stand by my comment with regards to Kennesaw's defense on our national championship team. It is all a moot point anyway, but that team was good. Hopefully we can get back to that level of talent, and rise beyond in the future.

I was cheering hard for Belmont to pull the upset, and I thought you deserved to win. Your program is super solid. I severely under-rated your team this year at the beginning of the year. Congrats on a great season hoosbruin.
