Alabama Secured On 2003 UH Football Schedule
HONOLULU - The University of Hawai`i and the University of Alabama have reached an agreement to play football again in 2003, Athletics Director Herman Frazier announced today. Kickoff is tentatively set for 6:05 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 29, 2003, at Aloha Stadium.

This is a wonderful opportunity for us to play an upper echelon team from the Southeastern Conference," Frazier said. "It keep us within the scheduling philosophy I mentioned when I got here and we will continue to pursue those types of teams for our non-conference games."

UH Football Coach June Jones agreed.

"It's great for our football program and the entire State," Jones said. "It brings fans to the game and national recognition to our football program. They'll bring a lot of people to the State who will stay in hotel rooms and help the economy so that's all positive."

According to Alabama Athletics Director Mal Moore, the decision to return to Honolulu in 2003 was easy.

"We have had an overwhelming positive response to the decision to playing there this season," Moore stated. "Our players were very responsive and many expressed an interest in returning next season. This will be an added bonus to our players and fans."

The Warriors will meet the Crimson Tide this season for the first time in school history Nov. 30 at Aloha Stadium. The game is scheduled to kickoff at 3:05 p.m. and will be aired live nationally on ESPN.
