At least Northwestern has played NIU and in a year that NIU had a good team. IL hasnt' played NIU in years and likely won't for the foreseable future.
Northwestern being a private program doesn't have to bend to any pressure from a state legislature as others have unless the IL General Assembly wants to start penciling NU into the IL state budget!
This year was the first I can recall that IN has played at BSU, Purdue has never played at BSU. It's been a decade since NIU played WI and even longer for MN. NIU draws several players from these states, Novak and the athetic admin should try scheduling them as those games are more winnable than OSU & Iowa.
